Comprehensive Ophthalmological Exams
A comprehensive eye examination yields far more information than you might expect. Not only does it provide us with information to diagnose and treat eye conditions, a look into your eyes also provides an open window on your general health.
Our comprehensive eye examination in Fort Worth or Southlake includes a battery of tests using the latest state of the art instrumentation. Your testing will include visual acuity, eye muscle balance, pupil and nerve testing, binocular vision status, color vision, depth perception, internal eye health, external eye health, tonometry (glaucoma test), visual fields, refraction, and digital retinal imaging. Other tests may be necessary as your condition warrants.
We recommend that you bring your current eyeglasses and/or contact lenses with you. In addition, a list of all your current medications and health conditions would be helpful in assessing your complete eye health. We recommend comprehensive eye examinations annually.

With recent advances in contact lenses, most people can now wear them successfully. Our doctors are highly trained and experienced in fitting all types of lenses such as disposables, gas permeable, colors, planned replacement, bifocal contacts, as well as specialty lenses for astigmatism (toric), keratoconus and post-surgery. A stock of several thousand lenses ensures the most accurate fit possible and usually you can take the lenses home the very same day. If you are unsure whether contacts are right for you, ask about our complimentary contact lens consultation.
Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT), Orthokeratology, Ortho-K
Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) and orthokeratology (Ortho-K) are innovative procedures for reshaping the cornea using specially designed gas permeable contact lenses. The purpose of CRT is to reduce nearsightedness and astigmatism so as to reduce your dependence on glasses or contacts. By using reverse geometry contact lenses, the cornea is flattened which in turn decreases or eliminates nearsightedness. When the desired effect is achieved, lenses need only be worn on a part-time basis (usually at night) to maintain the corneal shape. This allows you to spend your waking hours free of glasses or contacts and is completely reversible.
REFRACTIVE LASER SURGERY
REFRACTIVE SURGERY – PRK, LASIK, LASEK, CK
Refractive surgery is quickly becoming a popular alternative to eyeglasses and contacts. Photorefractive Keratectomy or PRK and Laser In-Situ Keratomileusis or LASIK are currently the procedures of choice. Both procedures can correct nearsightedness (myopia), farsightedness (hyperopia) and astigmatism by reshaping or sculpting the cornea using a laser.
Conductive Keratoplasty (CK), is a vision procedure for hyperopia or farsightedness. It uses radiofrequency energy instead of a laser to reshape the contours of your eye. Because everyone’s vision care needs are unique, only a comprehensive examination will determine if you would benefit from PRK, LASIK, LASEK OR CK.
Our eye doctors are specially trained and credentialed to help you make the right decision about which procedure would be best for you. Ask about our complimentary refractive surgery consultation.
